Why an industry person writes this site
I have spent my working life in the online gambling industry, producing content for iGaming websites. I am telling you that in the first paragraph rather than burying it, because it is the single most relevant fact about who is writing here.
Most responsible gambling content online is written by one of three groups: charities working with limited budgets, treatment providers who need you to become a client, or gambling affiliates producing a safer-gambling page so their casino reviews look respectable. Each has a reason to tell you a particular version of the story.
I have a different one. Working inside this industry means I know which player protections genuinely change behaviour and which exist mainly so an operator can show a regulator a screenshot. I know what a deposit limit actually does to an account, why some affordability checks trigger and others do not, and how a VIP scheme looks from the inside. That knowledge is useful to players, and almost nobody who has it writes it down publicly.
What I am not
I am not a clinician, a therapist or a counsellor. I have no medical qualification and I do not diagnose anyone. Where this site covers clinical territory — gambling disorder, comorbidity, suicide risk, treatment — I write from published clinical sources and I say plainly on each page that it has not been reviewed by a clinician. How I work
- Primary sources only. Legislation, regulator guidance, national statistics agencies, peer-reviewed research. Never another blog.
- Every figure carries its survey, year and method, so you can tell a solid number from a shaky one.
- No affiliate links anywhere on this site. No operator advertising. No paid placements.
